Our Story
Founded in 1979 under the name Fine Dried Foods International (FDFI), the original owner had a vision for importing tropical fruits to the United States as a way to support small scale farmers using farming principles that protect the earth and support rural economies. He set out to provide meaningful, stable, and healthy working conditions for people living in the regions where these tropical fruits are most commonly produced. The company built and operated factories with the health and well-being of the workers in mind and have been proud of the impact the business has made to enhance employees’ capacity to meet basic human needs, ensure safe working conditions, and guarantee farmers a livable wage.
Sunset Fine Foods took over operations in 2023 continuing the tradition of excellence established by the previous ownership. We are committed to carry on the tradition of fostering these longstanding relationships and bring only the finest dried fruit to you, our customers. We produce exceptional dried fruit products such as mango, pineapple, banana, and tomato that are abundantly available, underutilized, and often contribute to waste in tropical regions around the world.
Our business is Organic, Kosher, and SMETA (Social Responsibility) certified, HACCP and FSMA compliant.
